The main adventurous activity in Kanha National Park is the tiger show or the tiger safari. This can be done on an elephants back or by authorized jeeps and guides. Kanha museum is a widely visited spot here; it's a tribal museum that gives elaborate details about the lifestyle of the people who belong to the jungle. Bamni Dadar here is one of the famous sunset points. Tourists visit to get the picturesque view of the setting sun. Kanha is well known as the "Land of Sherkhan" the tiger, which is well described in the amazing stories from Rudyard Kipling in his famous novel the "Jungle Book". This sanctuary is located in the Mandla district of Central India in Madhya Pradesh. In 1955 Kanha was converted into a National Park and was launch as the tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1974. Kanha national park cum Tiger reserve extends over an area of over 1,940-sq-kms. The park is located in the Maikal range, the eastern division of the Satpura Hills of the Central Indian Highlands. Flora Sal, Saja, Lendia, Dhawa, Tendu, Palas, Bija, Mahua, Aonla, Achar and Bamboo etc. Besides, there are many species of climbers, forbs and grass. Fauna Mammals- Barking deer, Chital, Sambar , Barasingha, Chousingha , Gaur , Langur , Wild pig , Jackal, Sloth bear, Wild dog, Panther, Tiger Reptiles-Python, Indian Cobra, Russell’s Viper, Indian Krait, Common Rat Snake, Common Skink, Indian Monitor, Fan Throated Lizard and Indian Garden Lizard etc. Birds- The Reserve supports around 300 species of birds. ![]() Accommodation:- There are many wildlife resorts in Kanha National park, which are providing accommodation to wildlife tourist. Best Time to Visit:- Kanha National Park can be best visited anytime from mid November to June. The park is closed from July to mid-November during monsoon. Kanha Park Safari Timings:- 1. 1st Nov to Feb 15 th - Sunrise to 1200 hrs 1500 hrs, to sunset 2. 16 th Feb to Apr 15 th - Sunrise to 1200 hrs 1600 hrs, to sunset 3. 16 th Apr - Jun 30 th - Sunrise to 1100 hrs 1700 hrs, to sunset How to get there:- By Air: Jabalpur- 180 K.m (4 Hrs drive) Nagpur -260 K.m (6 Hrs Drive).
